Rare Bird nesting near Moon Lake and Trash Pickup

This note from Dave Pinkawa regarding rare birds he has nesting in his yard.

We have a nesting pair of rare birds in our yard and I was able to take a picture of it.  It is a Merlin Falcon.  Here is the link to a site that describes the bird and it includes their vocalizations which are the same that we hear all day.  http://www.merlinfalconfoundation.org/vocalizations   Also find a picture of our crab tree in full bloom with a Yellow Swallowtail.

And thanks to the Lawrence family, weekend visitors, for picking up trash on S Moon Lake Rd.

Loon Chicks 2012 Update

We just heard from Mike Meyer of the Wisconsin DNR who monitors loons in Northern Wisconsin (and on Moon Lake, the loons do not know where the state line is located).  He said this hatch could be a record early hatch for the UP.  Here are a few photos.
