The included photo shows Chinese Mystery Snails collected by the Wheelers from their beach on July 31, 2011. If you have these snails you should collect them and dispose of them away from the lake by burying or placing in the trash. See previous information about these snails in the Protect Our Lake tab.
Loon Nesting Update
As of June 28, 2011, the loons were off the nest and there are no chicks. The pair is still on the lake and have been reported by neighbors to be spending some time near and/or on the platform and investigating areas on the shore. They may be considering nesting again; however, it is very late to start for the third time. The buoys and platform will be left in place until after the July 4th holiday week in case the loons decide to nest there again.
We checked the platform this afternoon (June 30, 2011). There was a well-formed, dry nest with no sign of eggs or egg fragments.
