Loon Chicks 2012 Update

We just heard from Mike Meyer of the Wisconsin DNR who monitors loons in Northern Wisconsin (and on Moon Lake, the loons do not know where the state line is located). He said this hatch could be a record early hatch for the UP. Here are a few photos. [slideshow id=20]

2 Loon Chicks

We have 2 loon chicks on the lake! It appears they hatched around May 27. This is early for chicks but is another effect of our early end to winter this year. Photos will be posted soon.

Loons Nesting

On May 2 or 3 the loons started nesting. This is about 2 weeks earlier than last year and then they had to abandon the nest because of black flies. Lets hope they have better luck this year.

Water Quality Data from 2011 has been added

Water Quality Data from the Cooperative Lakes Monitoring Program has been added to the Water Quality Chart.
