around the lake

I wish the photos were better but here is the chick on the platform probably waiting for its sibling to emerge.

The Loons began nesting May 4.  Hopefully the Loon Black Flies will stay away this year.

Our loons arrived on April 10 and the ice cover completely left the lake on April 15.  The water level at ice out was 5.30 feet, up over 4-1/2 inches since ice on last fall and up over 10 inches since ice off last spring. On Monday, April 17 the DNR is scheduled to plant […]
