Sad news here on Moon Lake as it seems there was a raid on the loon nest Sunday night, June 10.
Some of you may have heard the loons about 9:30, and for about 20 min they were in a panic! Their panic could be heard from one end of the lake to the other. The loons were both off the nest and the eggs left. I continued to check the cam until around 10 pm when an adult was back on the nest and sitting on the eggs.
Thought all was well until this morning… seems the nest raiders came back because the eggs and adults were no longer on the nest. We suspect three otters, which have taken residency at the lake, have eaten the eggs.
