Change in Weather Reporting

The Moon Lake Webmaster/Weatherman has been doing a poor job of weather reporting as it has become a pain in his rear.  Therefore a different reporting method is going to be used.  The data from our weather station will be periodically cut and pasted onto the website.   There is actually more data; however snowfall will not be included.  The weather page has been updated to this new format.

It would be great if someone else in MLRA would take over weather reporting duties.

Loon Update and Photographs

Attached are 3 great photographs contributed by Daryl Lannert.  They were taken on September 1, 2012, in the evening.  This was about the last time the chick, or an adult for that matter, was seen on the lake.  The chick had been seen exercising its wings and attempting to fly since mid-August and was seen taking a short flight on August 27.   It appears that one of the adults left in late August.  We have had no reports of either the adult or chick since these photos were taken.  Because the chick was hatched in late May, which is a month or more earlier than “normal,” we presumed that it has fledged and started its journey south.  Thanks to all the lake residents who have provided information and photos of the loons this year.
